Written by AdministratorMassage treatments alleviate muscle pain and give you an overall feeling of well being. At Nurture Studio we offer many styles of massage. Our experienced massage therapists are trained in multiple techniques and place importance on giving you high quality treatments.
Swedish Massage: A relaxing, flowing style of massage which works on the larger muscles. It is beneficial if you are stressed and feeling tension in your body particularly in your neck shoulders and back. After a Swedish massage you feeling like you are floating.
Deep Tissue Massage: A stronger massage for those with more specific problems such as shoulder tension due to hours spent working at your computer or pain post car accident. Deep Tissue Massage is also beneficial for some chronic problems such as an old sporting injury which continues to cause you discomfort. Your practitioner will take a case history and treat you accordingly. This type of massage can be painful but is sometimes necessary to break through knots long term muscle tension.
Oriental Massage: This is a Chinese style massage where the practitioner will use acupressure (pressure on specifically chosen acupuncture points) to alleviate pain and increase your general well being. In this firm style of massage the practitioner may also use moxa, a warming herb burnt two inches above an acupuncture point, which can be more effective in activating the acupuncture point than pressure alone. The heat from the moxa also pleasantly warms areas where you have pain and stimulates blood flow to the area. The addition of Moxibustion after massage often leads to longer term relief for muscle pain and arthritic conditions than with massage alone. Cupping, another ancient Chinese technique, may also be used in your treatment. After a vacume is created in the glass cup, it is placed on your shoulders and back to clear toxicity and loosen chronic tension.
Musculoskeletal Therapy (MST): Discover how MST can benefit you by clicking our section on MST.
Reflexology: A foot treatment based on the ideology that there are areas on your foot which relate to your body and its organs. The practitioner will use various techniques to activate these areas on your foot to treat you for your presenting problem or simply for overall health. The practitioner may also use aromatherapy (oils which have therapeutic properties) in your treatment.
